Kaleido Gallery Coordinator

The Gallery Coordinator will work as a contractor to Arts on the Ave Edmonton Society. This is a part-time, contract position, with hours increasing leading up to the festival. Work outside of normal business hours and on evenings and weekends will be required.  

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the guidance and direction of the Festival Producer and Executive Director, Christy Morin, the Gallery Coordinator will plan, coordinate, and execute the Kaleido festival galleries in their respective venues including The Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts. The Gallery Coordinator will:

  • Write, circulate, and promote the Call for Submissions

  • Coordinating a jury for the Kaleido galleries

  • Liaise with gallery venues to ensure smooth install and dismantle of the Kaleido galleries

  • Coordinate install and dismantle of gallery exhibitions including satellite venues

  • Plan, coordinate, execute workshops facilitated by local artists in gallery venues.

  • Plan, coordinate, execute Youth Gallery including arranging the pick up of artwork from local schools

  • Responsible for all artist / workshop facilitator Kaleido Gallery contracts and agreements

  • Supervise all four gallery venues during festival hours

  • Supervise and train the volunteers assigned to each venue

  • Assist with the sale of artwork at each gallery venue

  • Contact purchasers and artists to arrange times to pick up artwork

  • Transport and deliver artwork as needed

  • Create artwork payment and reconciliation document

Qualifications

  • An interest in visual art and knowledge of local arts nonprofits

  • Experience with gallery installs including curating and hanging artwork

  • Ability to build effective relationships within the arts communities

  • Detail-oriented team worker who is able to work independently

  • Great communication skills

  • Strong problem solving skills

  • Experience working in unusual spaces

  • Computer literate (especially with Excel, Word, etc.)

Kaleido Artisan Coordinator

The Artisan Coordinator will work as contractor to Arts on the Ave Edmonton Society.  

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the guidance and direction of the Festival Producer and Executive Director, Christy Morin, the Gallery Coordinator will plan, coordinate, and execute the Kaleido festival galleries in their respective venues including The Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts. The Artisan Coordinator will:

  • Lead the selection of artisan market vendors, managing and coordinating:

    • Applications process for food vendors

    • Communications with vendors and potential vendors

    • Juries to review applications

    • Vendor contracts

    • Vendor permits and insurance requirements

    • Vendor fee payments

    • Vendor booth placement

  • Liaise with artists and artisans

  • Outline requirements and guidelines for artisan tables, sales, etc.

  • Respond to queries raised by artists/artisans

  • Coordinate on-site arts-related logistics

  • Attend weekly meetings with the Kaleido production team to plan and further festival development

  • Other job-related duties as required

Qualifications

  • Experience with event production and logistics management

  • Ability to build effective relationships within the arts communities

  • Detail-oriented team worker who is able to work independently

  • Experience in visual art and/or craft

  • Good communication skills

  • Team Player
