Art is Everywhere

Carrie Wheeler - Sea Life

Carrie's installation, "Sea Life", is about different types of ocean fish. The fish are beautiful and colourful. Carrie loves fish and has fish in her apartment. She wants to create an experience where the viewers can "scuba dive" without having to be underwater and encounter the beautiful fish in nature.

About Carrie

I am an artist who does ceramics. My ceramics are 3D sculptures, with the odd plates and bowls. They are beautiful sculptures often featuring human or animal figures, and I use a lot of flowers in my work. I also use a lot of colour. I like to use ceramics because it is soft on my hands, and it makes me feel good. I feel like I can get the piece to look realistic and how I want it to look out in the world. I like making things that will last a thousand years, and will never break.

Many of my sculptures of people are nude, and I like sculpting them that way, although I don’t know why. I enjoy looking at flowers, so I like to put flowers in my work. I’m always happy making sculptures, and I like to make people happy too.
